Supporting the construction of Croatia’s largest private hospital
In Croatia, as we look to deliver on our Purpose of Empowering Communities to Progress, Zagrebačka banka financed the construction of one of the country’s largest private hospitals: The Akromion Special Hospital for Orthopaedics and Traumatology.
The investment included the construction of a modern building, larger accommodation capacities and more operating rooms, and new radiological, X-ray, CT, and MR equipment – all helping the hospital remain a centre of excellence in the treatment of orthopaedic and trauma diseases and injuries.
Akromion is one of the most significant brands in private healthcare in Croatia and has continuously achieved exceptional results. In one of the largest social impact banking projects in Croatia, the construction of the new hospital was financed with a loan from Zagrebačka banka, alongside investors' own funds and those of UniCredit Leasing.

Since its foundation, Akromion has continuously achieved exceptional results. From the beginning of work until August 31, 2023, we performed 17,276 operations and 223,369 examinations. We built a new hospital in Zagreb with a larger accommodation capacity of 51 beds compared to previous 18 and increased the number of operating rooms from three to four. We acquired new radiological devices, X-ray, CT and MR so that we can perform diagnostics in one place. Building this type of hospital requires the cooperation and partnership of everyone involved in the project, and I am grateful to everyone who was part of it.
