Providing green financing for highly rated ČEZ Group
To support its transition to more sustainable practices, UniCredit provided leading European energy company ČEZ Group with a €320 million credit facility with interest linked directly to its ESG rating. We believe this financing will help ČEZ Group further improve its ESG performance and realise the goals of its Clean Energy of Tomorrow strategy – benefiting each of us in the long term through a better environment and emission-free energy.
In recent years ČEZ Group has moved into the top 15% of companies in the world in ESG ratings according to the CSR Hub rating aggregate – which recalculates the ratings of approximately 30 of the most important international agencies. There are 30,000 publicly traded companies from all over the world in CSR Hub database.
Loans with ESG parameters accounted for 20% of the long-term investment loans provided by our corporate banking services in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. As a result, in 2023 we were also named Best ESG bank in the Czech Republic by Euromoney magazine.
