Financing new homes for homeless people in Berlin

AprilESG

In Germany, UniCredit HypoVereinsbank provided a social impact financing loan to Berlinovo for the construction of a new residential building for homeless people and those at risk of homelessness, as well as for single mothers and women in need of shelter in Berlin.

In April 2023 the construction project in Marchwitzastraße in Berlin-Marzahn was completed. It comprises 87 apartments, each with 20m² of living space, with a total capacity to house 175 people.

Berlinovo is an important partner of the state of Berlin for the creation of affordable housing. We are pleased that we can make an important contribution to the creation of housing for people in our city who are not directly in the focus of the housing market with this lighthouse project: people who are particularly at risk of homelessness. UniCredit has given us excellent support with its comprehensive sustainable finance expertise for socially sustainable housing projects. Thanks to this ongoing, trustful cooperation, we feel that we are in competent and reliable hands."

Caroline Oelmann

CEO of Berlinovo

We are very proud to be Berlinovo’s financing partner in this socially sustainable flagship project in Berlin. It will offer affordable housing for people at risk of homelessness as well as single mothers and women in need of shelter. It will help to ease the tight housing situation and thus make an important contribution to a fair and inclusive society. This is also our strategic goal for Social Impact Financing in Germany."
